El piloto del Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS, Álex Márquez, llega al Gran Premio de las Américas este fin de semana para disputar la tercera carrera del Campeonato del Mundo de MotoGP, decidido a subir al podio.

Márquez logró su primer podio de la temporada en Qatar, asegurándose la tercera posición a pesar de haber tenido que ralentizar su ritmo tras sufrir un problema con el freno trasero de su moto a mitad de carrera. En Argentina, el ex campeón del mundo de Moto3 terminó quinto, después de perder contacto con el grupo de cabeza tras un escarceo con su rival Miguel Oliveira a principio de carrera.

Tras ver ganar a Eli Tomac en el Monster Energy AMA Supercross de 450SX en Minneapolis el fin de semana pasado, Márquez llega al Circuito de las Américas con el firme objetivo de subir al podio. Además el circuito figura en su lista de favoritos.

Álex Márquez: «Correr en América siempre es especial y el Circuito de las Américas es una pista que me gusta mucho. Es técnico, exigente y la experiencia cuenta mucho. El año pasado hicimos un buen trabajo y el podio se nos escapó por muy poco a pesar de tener varios problemas durante la carrera».

«Este fin de semana espero poder hacer una carrera normal y sin errores, porque tanto en Qatar como en Argentina tuvimos algunos contratiempos. Llego a Austin descansado y muy motivado después de haber disfrutado del Supercross en Minneapolis. Ya estoy deseando empezar».

Alex Márquez aims high in Texas

Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider Álex Márquez head into this weekend’s Grand Prix of The Americas, the third round of the 2018 Moto2 World Championship, determined to climb the podium.

Márquez took his first podium of the season in Qatar, securing third position despite being slowed by a problem with his rear brake at mid race distance. In Argentina the former Moto3 World Champion was fifth, after losing ground on the leading group following a coming together with title rival Miguel Oliveira early in the race.

Having watched Eli Tomac take the overall honours in the 450SX class at the Monster Energy AMA Supercross in Minneapolis last weekend, Márquez once again has his sights set firmly on a podium finish as he heads to the Circuit of the Americas, a track he rates as one of his favourites.

Álex Márquez: «Racing in America is always special and the Circuit of the Americas is a track that I like a lot. It’s technical, demanding and one at which experience counts for a lot. Last year we did a good job there, only narrowly missing out on a podium finish despite some problems in the race».

«I hope to make a normal race with no mistakes again this weekend, because we had some issues in both Qatar and Argentina. I arrive in Austin fully rested and fully motivated, having enjoyed a visit to the Supercross in Minneapolis and I’m looking forward to the weekend ahead».
