El piloto del Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS confía en terminar la temporada de forma positiva en el Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana, última cita del calendario este fin de semana por décimo séptimo año consecutivo.

Álex Márquez contará con el apoyo incondicional de la afición en un circuito español por cuarta vez esta temporada, algo que le dará fuerza adicional terminar la temporada luchando por subir al podio.

Tras lograr la pole position y terminar la carrera décimo en Malasia, Álex Márquez se encuentra 5º en la clasificación con 157 puntos, a solo cinco del cuarto puesto de Moto2. Márquez cuenta con grandes recuerdos en Valencia. Allí se coronó campeón del mundo de Moto3 en 2014 tras acabar la carrera tercero en un mano a mano por el título con Jack Miller. El año pasado en Moto2, logró la pole position y terminó la carrera en quinta posición.

La carrera de Moto2 de este fin de semana marcará el final de una era en la categoría intermedia del Campeonato del Mundo y será el antecedente de un cambio a nivel técnico en 2019. El domingo se celebrará la última carrera en la que la parrilla utilice el motor cuatro cilindros de Honda CBR600RR, el cuál ha propulsado a la categoría de Moto2 desde sus inicios en 2010.

La próxima temporada, la parrilla de Moto2 seguirá en igualdad técnica, pero bajo el carenado de las motos estará el nuevo motor tricilíndrico Triumph de 765cc. Márquez y su nuevo compañero de equipo, Xavi Vierge, comenzarán a preparar la temporada 2019 justo después del Gran Premio de Valencia, con un importante test de tres días en Jerez, del 23 al 25 de noviembre.

La acción en Valencia este fin de semana comenzará el viernes a las 10:55am con la FP1, con la última carrera de la temporada programada para el domingo a las 12:20pm.

Álex Márquez looks to end 2018 in style in Valencia’s grand finale

Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider Alex Marquez can conclude the 2018 Moto2 World Championship in positive fashion when the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia hosts the final round for the 17th season in succession this weekend.

For the fourth time this season, Alex Marquez can count on passionate home support when they go in search of a podium in the final race of 2018 at the 4km Valencia track in Spain.

After a stunning pole position and hard fought ride into the top 10 in Malaysia, Alex Marquez –5th in the overall standings on 157 points– is just five-points adrift of Lorenzo Baldassarri (4th) going into Sunday’s crunch battle.

Alex Marquez has great memories of Valencia from when he took a nerveless third place in a nail-biting title decider against Jack Miller to win the 2014 Moto3 World Championship. And last year he stormed to a sensational pole position before finishing fifth in the Moto2 encounter.

This weekend’s Moto2 race marks the end of an era for the intermediate World Championship ahead of an exciting technical switch in 2019.

Sunday’s race will be the final time that the Moto2 field will compete against each other using the Honda CBR600RR-inspired engine that has powered the category since its inception in 2010.

Next season, the Moto2 grid will race against each other using the new Triumph 765cc three-cylinder motor, and Marquez and new teammate Xavi Vierge will begin preparations for 2019 immediately after Valencia with an important three-day test session in Jerez from November 23-25.

The action in Valencia this weekend gets underway with FP1 on Friday at 1055am local time, with the final race scheduled to start at 12:20pm on Sunday.
