El Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS ha dominado el test IRTA en Jerez, con Álex Márquez liderando la tabla de tiempos combinada de Moto2.

Con un tiempo de 1’41.989 en la primera sesión de Moto2 del viernes, Álex Márquez ha rebajado en más de medio segundo el récord de pole position de Jerez, logrado por Sam Lowes en 2016. El de Cervera tenía planeado hacer un simulacro de carrera por la tarde, pero finalmente ha decidido no salir en la última sesión de tests al encontrarse mal.

Álex ha sido examinado en el centro médico del circuito, donde han descubierto que su temperatura corporal era de 39ºC. El piloto del Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS volverá ahora a casa para recuperarse a tiempo para el último test IRTA en Qatar.

El Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS pondrá rumbo a Qatar en unos días para disputar el segundo y último test IRTA de la pretemporada, que contará con tres jornadas más, y dará comienzo el viernes 17 de marzo.

Álex Márquez:  “Estoy contento con lo que hemos conseguido durante los últimos tres días aquí en Jerez, a pesar de no poder disputar la última sesión porque me encontraba mal, y no haber podido completar el simulacro de carrera que teníamos programado. Aun así, me he sentido muy bien sobre la moto, mi confianza ha ido creciendo en cada salida y, he dado la mejor vuelta de mi vida en Jerez, para terminar en lo más alto de la clasificación. Ahora debo recuperarme para Qatar, donde tendremos que seguir apretando para llegar preparados a la primera carrera de la nueva temporada.”

Álex tops the timesheet in Jerez

Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS dominated proceedings at the three-day IRTA Jerez test, with Álex Márquez topping the combined Moto2 timesheet.

Márquez’s time of 1’41.989, which he posted in Friday’s opening Moto2 session, was more than half a second under the existing Jerez pole position record, set by Sam Lowes in 2016. The 20-year-old Spaniard was scheduled to complete a race simulation in the afternoon, but decided to sit out the final test session due to illness.

Álex was examined in the circuit medical centre, where it was discovered he was running a temperature of 39°C. The Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider will now head home to recover and to be ready for the final IRTA test in Qatar.

Álex Márquez: «I’m happy with what we’ve achieved here in Jerez over the last three days, despite having to sit out the final session because I was sick, which meant missing out on the race simulation. Even so, I feel really good on the bike, my confidence was increasing with every exit and I posted my best ever lap at Jerez to finish at the top of the timesheet. Now I need to recover for Qatar, where we need to continue pushing to be ready for the first race of the new season.»
