Confiado tras demostrar su potencial en las últimas carreras, Álex Márquez quiere volver a estar luchando por el podio cuando el Campeonato del Mundo de Moto2 desembarque en el Reino Unido este fin de semana con motivo del Gran Premio de Gran Bretaña.

Después de haber estado en la batalla por el podio en las últimas pruebas disputadas en Brno y Spielberg, el piloto español tiene su mira fijada en volver a estar delante en la carrera del domingo, programada a 18 vueltas.

Márquez tuvo mala suerte al quedarse fuera de la batalla en las dos últimas citas, pero el espectacular circuito de Silverstone, con sus 5,9 kilómetros de longitud y sus 18 curvas, será un festival de adrenalina para Álex, que adora las secciones de curvas rápidas, veloces cambios de dirección y fuertes frenadas del trazado británico. Logró el segundo podio de su trayectoria deportiva en Silverstone en 2013,  y doce meses después fue segundo tras una intensa carrera.

Álex Márquez: «Está claro que en las dos últimas carreras en Brno y Spielberg el resultado final no fue el que esperábamos, así que llegamos a Silverstone confiados en conseguir hacerlo bien, pero sobre todo, el objetivo será terminar la carrera. Todavía quedan muchas carreras por disputar y aunque ahora el Campeonato del Mundo será muy difícil de ganar, no debemos rendirnos y queremos seguir apretando al máximo en cada carrera. Silverstone es un circuito que me encanta y llego con la motivación por las nubes, porque quiero volver a mostrar nuestro verdadero potencial. Lo más importante es volver disfrutar cuando me suba otra vez a la moto y eso es lo que va a pasar este fin de semana en ese precioso circuito».

Alex Marquez primed to fight for great results in Britain

A confident Alex Marquez is relishing the chance to convert recent potential into a podium performance when the Moto2 World Championship hits UK shores this weekend.

The Spanish rider has his sights set firmly on another strong challenge at the front of Sunday’s 18-lap race, having been in the heat of battle for the podium recently in Brno and Spielberg.

Marquez was unfortunate to tumble out of contention in the previous two rounds, but the spectacular 5.9km Silverstone track is an 18-corner feast of adrenaline that he adores because if features a series of fast corners, high-speed changes of direction and hard braking zones. Marquez took just the second podium finish of his illustrious career at Silverstone in 2013 and he finished second in a thrilling encounter 12 months later.

Alex Marquez: “It is clear that at the last two races in Brno and Spielberg the final result didn’t meet our expectations, so we go to Silverstone still positive of achieving a strong result, but the first objective must be to finish the race. There are still a lot of races remaining but the World Championship is going to be very difficult to win now, but we must not give up and continue to believe and keep pushing at the maximum in every race. Silverstone is a track I like a lot and I’m still full of motivation going there with a lot of power to show our true potential again. The most important thing is to enjoy being on the bike again and I am sure that will happen this weekend on a beautiful track.”
