Tras comenzar la temporada 2018 fuera de Europa, el Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS aterriza en Jerez este fin de semana para disputar la cuarta cita del Campeonato del Mundo de Moto2. Con dos podios en las tres primeras carreras, Álex Márquez llega a España tercero en el campeonato, empatado a puntos con Mattia Pasini y a sólo 10 del líder del campeonato y vencedor del GP de las Américas, Francesco Bagnaia.

Márquez llega confiado a la primera de las cuatro carreras que este año correrá en casa. Además, fue en Jerez donde logró su primera victoria en la categoría intermedia hace doce meses. El de Cervera llega decidido a tratar de repetirlo este fin de semana. Álex ya probó el nuevo asfalto de Jerez el pasado mes de noviembre, pero, con mayor temperatura, las condiciones cambiarán para el Gran Premio de España este fin de semana.

Álex Márquez: «Hemos hecho un buen comienzo de temporada, con buenos resultados en las tres carreras que llevamos disputadas que nos permiten estar a sólo diez puntos del líder del campeonato. Tenemos que seguir así cuando empecemos en Europa, además el calendario se aprieta bastante desde este fin de semana en Jerez.

En este circuito me lo paso siempre genial y es donde logré mi primera victoria en Moto2 el año pasado. Por eso estoy deseando volver a Jerez. El objetivo será el podio, pero si tengo opciones de ganar seguro que lo voy a intentar.”

Álex, ready to do battle for the victory in Jerez

After three overseas races to kick off the 2018 season Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS land in Europe this weekend, for round four of the Moto2 World Championship at the Jerez circuit. With two podium finishes in the first three races Álex Márquez arrives to Spain third in the championship standings and tied on points with second placed Mattia Pasini, with both just 10 points adrift of series leader and Americas GP winner, Francesco Bagnaia.

Márquez’s confidence is high heading into the first of four home races at Jerez, where he took his first win in the intermediate class 12 months ago, a feat he is keen to repeat this weekend. Álex tested at the resurfaced Jerez circuit back in November, but warmer weather means track conditions will be very different for this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix.

Álex Márquez: «It’s been a good start to the season, with strong finishes in the three races so far and just a ten point gap to the top of the championship standings. We need to continue in this way when we land back in Europe and the calendar starts to get a bit busier, starting this weekend in Jerez.

This is a track I really enjoy and it’s where I took my first Moto2 win last year, so I’m looking forward to returning. The target is the podium, but if I have the possibility to win then I’ll try to do exactly that.»
