Alex Márquez sube al tercer escalón del podio y suma 16 valiosos puntos que le mantienen líder de la categoría con una cómoda ventaja.

La decimotercera carrera de Moto2 del año se ha llevado a cabo bajo un sol radiante y un termómetro que ha alcanzado los 25 grados en el Misano World Circuit.Alex Márquez ha firmado un importante e inteligente podio en una pista en la que históricamente ha sufrido.

Segundo en parrilla, Alex Márquez ha perdido posiciones en la salida, pero en dos vueltas volvía a estar en liza y afianzando la tercera plaza.

Durante la primera parte de carrera ha tocado pelear y los principales contendientes eran Fabio Di Giannantonio y Augusto Fernandez. Tercero hasta entonces, en la novena vuelta se ha situado segundo, posición que ha mantenido durante 4 giros.

Inteligente y maduro, Alex ha decidido asegurar la tercera posición viendo que tanto Augusto como Fabio tenían algo más. Finalmente ha cruzado meta tercero, a 1.2 segundos del español Augusto Fernández.

Con este resultado Alex Márquez mantiene el liderato del Campeonato ahora con un total de 197 puntos y una ventaja de 26 sobre el segundo clasificado, Augusto Fernández.

Alex Márquez, 3º: “Estoy muy contento. Aquí siempre he sufrido así que un podio es un muy buen resultado. Quizás antes de la carrera esperábamos un poquito más, pensaba que estaría más cerca de la cabeza en las últimas vueltas. En la tercera vuelta ya he tenido un susto con el que casi me caigo y tenía claro que hoy sería una carrera complicada. Sentía que estaba rozando el límite así que viéndome tercero he optado por controlar el margen delantero y trasero, hacer mi carrera y olvidarme del resto. Estoy muy contento con el resultado y el trabajo hecho.”

Márquez masters Misano for crucial podium finish

Alex Márquez maintains a healthy advantage in the championship fight thanks to a strong third place at Misano.

The 13th Moto2 race of 2019 kicked off in perfect sunny conditions and ambient temperatures of 25 degrees. Márquez rode a mature race to collect an important 3rd place and 16 points for his championship challenge.

Starting from 2nd, his 8th front row of 2019, Márquez had to recover five positions in the first 2 laps to regain 3rd place.

The current championship leader was involved in an exciting 3-rider fight for the lead with Fabio Di Giannantonio and Augusto Fernandez, and took 2nd on lap 9.

Ultimately Márquez didn’t have the pace to challenge the top 2 until the end but collected a strong 3rd place, just 1.2 seconds behind eventual winner Fernandez.

The result means Márquez still holds a healthy lead in the championship, and sits on 197 points, 26 ahead of Fernandez.

Alex Márquez, 3º: “Here is not one of my favorite tracks and I’ve always struggled here. This was a good result. OK, before the race we were expecting a little bit more. I thought I could be a little bit closer in the final laps to the top guys. On the third lap I had a moment where I nearly crashed and then I knew today would be difficult. I was too much on the limit and in the end I tried to control the gap to the guys in front and behind. I tried to just do my race and forget all the rest. I did it and I’m happy with the result and the job done.”
