El Gran Premio de Italia se ha disputado a 10 vueltas frenéticas después de que la carrera fuese detenida con bandera roja por motivos de seguridad tras dañarse un “airfence”.

La distancia original de 21 vueltas se ha visto acortada a diez con Alex Márquez 30º. El de Cervera se ha caído en la chicane de la tercera curva con Luca Marini en la primera carrera, pero ha podido volver a la pista antes de que detuvieran la prueba.

Para Márquez el día ha sido como una montaña rusa, y tras recuperarse de la caída en la primera carrera ha adelantado a más de una docena de pilotos para terminar 16º, a solo un puesto de sumar puntos.

El público que ha llenado del circuito toscano ha visto como Johann Zarco se adjudicaba la victoria en la sexta ronda del Campeonato del Mundo de Moto2.

Alex Márquez: “En la primera salida he decidido mantenerme tranquilo en el grupo y en la chicane he tratado de adelantar a Marini, pero de repente ha cerrado la puerta, y no es muy normal que un piloto corte el gas en ese punto. En la segunda salida ha ido mejor, a pesar de salir desde tan atrás. He adelantado a muchos pilotos pero después he comenzado a sentir una vibración en el tren trasero de la moto que quizás fuera debido a la caída de la primera parte. Lo importante es que he terminado la carrera después de levantarme de la caída. En general las sensaciones han sido positivas este fin de semana y seguimos creyendo en nuestro potencial para la próxima carrera, que además es en Barcelona, mi casa”.

Alex Marquez finishes 16th in a sprint race

The Italian Grand Prix was run over a frantic ten-lap dash after the first start was red flagged to repair a damaged section of airfence in the interest of safety.

The original 21-lap distance was shortened to ten laps with Alex Márquez starting from 30th on the revised grid. Márquez had crashed at the turn three chicane with Luca Marini in first race but rejoined before the red flag.

It was roller coaster day for Márquez who recovered from being in the gravel in the cancelled first race to overtake more than dozen riders to finish a brave 16th, just one position out of a point scoring finish.

A capacity crowd jammed the hillsides overlooking the Tuscan circuit to see Johann Zarco win the sixth round of the Moto2 World Championship.

Alex Márquez: “At the first start I decided to stay calm in the traffic but then in the chicane I tried to pass Marini and he closed the door, it is not normal for a rider to cut the gas at this point. The second race was better even though I started so far back. I passed a lot of riders but then I felt some vibration at the rear of the bike and perhaps this was from the crash in the first part. The important thing was to finish the race after picking up from the crash. Overall the general feeling from this weekend is positive and we still believe in our potential going to the next race, my home GP in Barcelona.«
