Alex Márquez secured points finish as he fought back on race day at Sunday’s Argentina Grand Prix. Starting from the seventh row of the grid, the LCR Honda CASTROL rider faced a tough task at Termas de Rio Hondo, but pushed hard to take 15th position at the third event of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship.
The Spaniard made full use of the extended warm-up session on Sunday morning to try new settings ahead of the race. He made a solid start only to suffer contact at the first corner but made up further places during the course of the race to claim a second successive points finish and is now focused on competing hard at next weekend’s American GP in Texas.
Alex Márquez – 15th: “It was a difficult weekend for us – we started quite good but we struggled in the race and especially in qualifying. I did my best and tried to make a good start, then suddenly in the first corner I got touched by another rider, which lost me some places. In the race I didn’t feel confident or good, so I struggled. We need to improve and we need to keep going. This was not the weekend we expected or hoped for, so I will try to be much better in Austin and give all the information to HRC. The team is working really good – I’m sure we will take some profit from this in the next few races.”
