Alex Márquez staged another Sunday fightback to claim a points finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, taking 15th position in an incident-packed race at Assen. The LCR Honda CASTROL rider fought through from the seventh row to sign off for the summer break with another respectable performance at the legendary Dutch layout.
Sitting 21st on the grid, the Spaniard got away well from the start line to immediately move himself up into the points positions by the time the riders settled on the first lap. He battled hard in a race which saw numerous crashes and some late rain, eventually taking his eighth points finish from 11 rounds this season.
Alex Márquez – 15th
“It was a difficult race for us, but I gave my 100%. In the first half of the race our pace was not bad, but later on I started struggling with the rear tyre. I pushed too much at the beginning and we still have problems turning the bike. I am now ready for the summer break; I need to disconnect mentally and “recharge batteries” as the first part of the season has been tough. I’ll come back to Silverstone, fully motivated and ready to work hard like always.”
