Alex Márquez staged another impressive Sunday fightback to claim creditable points finish in the Austrian Grand Prix. The LCR Honda CASTROL rider battled his way through from last on the starting grid to eventually claim 14thposition at the Red Bull Ring, ending the 28-lap race as the leading Honda bike.
After a difficult qualifying day had left him at the back of the field, the Spaniard made the quick start he was looking for as he made up eight places around the first couple of corners. Alex then rode with patience and consistency to edge his way up into the points places, ending a tough weekend on a positive note.
Alex Márquez – 14th
“It was a long race, starting from the back was not easy, but I made a really good start, a good first corner and first lap, and I was able to push from the beginning. I did the pace that I had in the free practices, no more, no less, just trying to be there, save tyres and be there at the end. Ok, we are really far back, but starting from the back, we can be quite happy about our work, but not our result. We need to keep going like this and keep improving. It was a really difficult Saturday for us, but Sunday was better and thanks to the team for all their work.”
