Álex Márquez claimed a points finish in the Dutch Grand Prix following a demanding race at Assen. Round nine of the 2021 MotoGP championship took place under sunny skies in the north-east of the Netherlands and, despite not finding his best rhythm, the LCR Honda Castrol rider showed determination to take the chequered flag in 14th spot.
Starting from the sixth row of the grid, the Spaniard got away well and made up a place down the straight to settle into 15th. Although he was unable to make the progress through the field he wanted, Álex maintained his position to secure a fifth points-scoring result of the season.

“I’m sad about the race today, I struggled a lot and didn’t enjoy it. It was a long race for me physically, when you don’t have the bike in hand and it’s not stable it’s very difficult. We made some changes in the warm-up that were maybe not the best solution, but in the warm-up I felt a bit better. The first time here on a MotoGP bike at Assen is difficult and maybe this is not the best track for our bike. Now, we have the summer break and it will be good for me and the team to rest, recharge batteries and come up with an action plan to improve in the second part of the season. We’ll be ready.”
