Alex Márquez will wear a solidarity helmet at the Jerez GP

Moto gp

Alex Márquez will wear a solidarity helmet at the Jerez GP that they will auction with Allianz to fight against the Covid-19 crisis

The riders Marc Márquez and Alex Márquez continue to show solidarity with all the people who are suffering due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and for this reason, they will start the 2020 World Championship at the Jerez Grand Prix wearing a special helmet that will serve to raise money together with Allianz Seguros.

The design of this helmet is a tribute to the entire society that has suffered and continues to suffer due to this pandemic, both to professionals in the different basic sectors who have worked tirelessly to keep essential services active, and to all the people who have been confined at home all this time and who are now gradually returning to normal life.

“Pushing Ahead Together” is the motto that they will use on the helmet to send a message of solidarity, gratitude and hope, thanking society for adapting to the circumstances in order to get through this situation together.

Marc and Alex will wear the helmet on a very special day as it will be the first time that they will compete together officially in the MotoGP category.

Both riders will donate these special helmets, gloves and boots to a charity auction. The auction will start on Friday, July 17 at 12 noon and will end on Monday, July 27 at 8:00p.m., through the Catawiki online platform. http://www.catawiki.es/Marquezforcovid19

Allianz Seguros, personal sponsor of Marc Márquez and Alex Márquez, will join the initiative of the brothers, promoting the project and helping the fight against Covid-19 by donating the equivalent of 250 sets of medical equipment for health service personnel. This action is in addition to the various initiatives the company has taken to fight the coronavirus, such as the sponsorship of the OxyGEN emergency respirators.

Once the auction is over, all of the money raised will be donated to Red Cross Plan Response who will be responsible for distributing the funds in the best possible way and to those most in need.

Solidarity protective face masks AM73

The Official Marc Márquez Fan Club and the Official Álex Márquez Fan Club will also join the solidarity initiative and will sell protective masks with this special design via the online store and the Cervera store. In this way everyone who wants to show solidarity with the cause will be able to buy them at a price of 10€, and all the full benefits will be donated to Red Cross Plan Response. Buy here

Alex Márquez: “Finally I will be able to debut in the MotoGP category at the Jerez Grand Prix, a dream come true, and there will be no better way to do it than wearing this beautiful helmet with all the meaning that this design carries. We spent days talking with Marc about what we could do when the competition came back, and designing a special helmet was a nice way to show solidarity with all the people who have had and are having a hard time in this difficult period for society, and at the same time to thank the work of all the professionals”.

Perfect one-two finish for Repsol Honda Team in Misano

News

Álex Márquez returned to winning ways with a masterful display in San Marino as Marc Márquez scored his first virtual podium with a scintillating second.

With the times in Qualifying as close as ever, the fourth virtual race of 2020 looked set to be another closer fought affair. As the lights went out, it was Álex Márquez who got the jump into Turn One from second on the grid aboard his Repsol Honda Team RC213V with World Champion Marc Márquez close behind.

The early laps saw Álex fighting with Quartararo and Bagnaia, two of Álex’s consistent rivals for the podium. Bagnaia’s challenge faded early and soon the 2019 Moto2 World Champion was left with just Quartararo behind him. Expert defending kept the French rider behind until in the closing moments when the pair collided and handed the lead to Álex’s team-mate. A hard battle erupting over the final lap between Álex and Marc. It would be Álex Márquez who took the win in a thrilling last corner battle, earning his second of the virtual season. Victory moves to the head of the championship table with 86 points.

Alex Márquez, 1st: “I’m happy with this win. It wasn’t easy as all race I was watching for Fabio behind, we crashed and then when Marc came at the end, I really had to push. I knew a little bit from playing with him in the past what he would try so I focused on the corner exit, I knew he’d be strong on the brakes. It has been great to put on another show for the fans and I think this was one of the best races yet. Thanks everyone for watching!”

Alex recovers for virtual home podium

News

Another dramatic race saw a number of falls, but once again Álex Márquez showed his consistency to continue his perfect podium record.

Rapid adaption to the new MotoGP 2020 video game saw Álex Márquez start on the middle of the front row for the 13-lap Red Bull Virtual GP of Spain with team-mate Marc Márquez further down the order than usual on the third row. Both were confident in their pace as the lights went out on the third virtual race of the year.

Turn One was once again a messy affair, but a great start aboard the RC213V saw Álex lead out of the opening corner. He and Francesco Bagnaia duked it out for much of the first lap until an uncharacteristic mistake from Álex at Turn 10. Quickly remounting, Álex charged forward and picked his way through the field. By lap four, the MotoGP rookie was in second – where he would eventually finish the race as a second fall ended his chance of winning. The result moves Alex to be joint leader of the championship.

Leaving their home round with another podium and double-top five finish has the Repsol Honda Team pleased with the opening rounds of the virtual season.

Alex Márquez, 2nd: “Another difficult race! The crash really wasn’t good and I’m confident that without it I could have won, it’s a shame but the second places moves us to the top of the points. It was really fun though, I really enjoy putting on a show for the fans and it’s also nice to have some jokes with the other riders. Next time we aim to go one better!”

Alex wins the inaugural #StayAtHomeGP!

News

The Repsol Honda Team converted their success on track to success in the virtual world as Alex Márquez claimed a stunning first win of 2020.

Six laps around the Mugello circuit produced thrilling action for the first #StayAtHomeGP, riders attacking from the moment the lights went out. With a more condensed event format than a typical GP, riders had little time to refine their setting.

Keeping calm, Alex Márquez stuck to his pre-race plan and put in a sterling performance to make history and clinch the win aboard the Repsol Honda Team RC213V in his eSports debut.

The result sees the Repsol Honda Team become the first official MotoGP team to win races in both the real and virtual worlds.

Alex Márquez, 1st : “Fantastic! What a result! It was a really funny event with all of the other riders and I am really pleased to win my first race! I found a good setting with the RC213V which let me race how I wanted to and I knew I had a few different lines for when I needed. Even at just six laps you really needed to stay focused because with one small mistake it can go very wrong. I enjoyed it a lot and I hope everyone who watched also had a good time. Let’s hope that everyone continues to follow the advice of the doctors and scientists so that we can return to a more normal life, seeing friends and family, enjoying the outside and going racing.”
